Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Your account: your username, your email address and your password, which we store only as a one-way hash, never in readable form; the date and IP address you registered from; and the player who referred you, if any.
• In the game: your characters and everything that belongs to them, and what you do in the game, such as trades, mail and chat. The game servers record this to run the game, handle reports and enforce the rules.
• Your connection and device: the IP address you connect from, when you log in, and identifiers of the computer you play on.
• On this website: the pages you visit and what you do there, with the time and your IP address, and your purchases, votes and rewards.
• Donations: the amount, the date and the transaction details your payment provider sends us. Payments are handled by the provider you choose, such as PayPal or PayOP; we never see or store your card or bank details.
• What you send us: reports, support requests and other messages, with anything you attach to them.

Cookies

This website uses a few cookies and similar technologies:

• Login: a session cookie keeps you logged in while you browse.
• Language: a cookie remembers the language you picked, for up to a year.
• Google Analytics: shows us which pages are visited, roughly from where and on which devices. Google sets its own cookies for this. You can opt out with Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
• Protection: Cloudflare, which delivers and protects this website, and Google reCAPTCHA on the registration form may set cookies to tell people from bots.
• Video: the YouTube video on the home page may set YouTube cookies when it loads.

The Gamez Codex sets no cookies of its own. It keeps your preferences, such as the items you pin to compare, in your browser and sends them nowhere.

How we use it

• To create your account, log you in and keep your account secure.
• To run the game and this website, and to deliver what you buy, win or earn.
• To keep the game fair: to detect and stop cheating, account theft, fraud and abuse of our systems, such as voting, trading and rewards.
• To handle reports and support requests and to enforce the rules, including bans.
• To send you emails about your account, such as verifying your email address, recovering your account or telling you that a marketplace item sold. We do not send marketing emails.
• To understand how this website is used and to improve it.

Our legal grounds

We use your data to provide the service you signed up for; to keep the game fair and secure and to improve it, which are our legitimate interests and which we weigh against yours; to keep the financial records the law requires; and, where we ask for it, with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share only what is needed with the services that help us run GamezAION:

• our hosting providers, whose servers run the game and this website;
• Cloudflare, which delivers and protects this website;
• Google, for Analytics, reCAPTCHA, this website’s fonts and YouTube;
• our payment providers, when you donate;
• the voting sites you vote on, which tell us which account voted and from which IP address;
• our email provider, which delivers account emails.

We may also disclose data when the law requires it, or to protect our players, our staff or GamezAION from fraud or harm. Some of these services are based outside your country, including in the United States.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. Login, security and website records are kept for as long as we need them to protect accounts and enforce the rules, and donation records for as long as the law requires. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your data, except what we must keep for those reasons.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct or delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to receive it in a form you can take elsewhere. You can change your password yourself in the User Panel.

To use these rights, contact us as described below; we may first ask you to prove that the account is yours. If you believe we have mishandled your data, you can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.

Children

GamezAION is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

This website uses an encrypted connection, passwords are stored only as hashes, and only our staff can see account data. No system is completely safe, so use a password you use nowhere else and never share it. Staff will never ask you for it.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update this page and the date at the top. We will announce significant changes on this website or on Discord.
